This book, Fisioterapia Motora Aplicada ao Paciente Crítico: do Diagnóstico à Intervenção (2ª edição, Manole), explores up-to-date methods of prescribing and applying motor physiotherapy for critically ill patients—covering everything from the physiopathology of ICU-acquired muscle weakness through functional decline, to diagnosis, exercise prescription, and the post-intensive care syndrome.
For the cover, I chose a refined, subtle graphic treatment that reflects the clinical precision and delicate balance inherent to the subject. The design uses an elaborated grafismo (abstract, structured graphic motifs) to suggest movement, support, and transition—ideas central to motor rehabilitation. Typographic choices are sober and clean, color palette muted but with contrasts that allow hierarchy (title vs. subtitle) and readability. The visual intention is to communicate seriousness and scientific credibility, while also conveying hope, progress, and the human dimension of recovery.
